Why should I attend an Operator Awareness - OLAT - course?
Let’s begin with explaining the difference between “Operator Awareness” (OLAT) and “Transport Manager Refresher” (TMR).
OLAT is a one-day reminder course about your obligations that you have undertaken when signing the GV79 from, the Application for a goods vehicle operator's licence, which is available via the vehicle-operator-licensing.service.gov.uk
OLAT Training can count towards Driver CPC Periodic Training and can also count towards CPD hours (Continuous Professional Development Training)
OLAT course is also suitable for anyone who is currently, or wishes to become, involved in the management of transport operations
TMR is a two-day refresher for every Transport Manager who is assigned to be the TM1, in other words the person who’s name is added to the Transport Managers licence.
TMR is an Operator Licence Compliance Refresher- OLCR and also to help qualified Transport Managers who have not acted in that role for a while and need their knowledge refreshing to ensure compliance with current Regulations.
Subjects are covered in more depth (than OLAT courses) and usually satisfies Traffic Commissioners request for Legal Undertakings, and ensure future compliance is achieved.
Proof of Training
Required by the Traffic Commissioners or DVSA, your Operator Awareness Training and your Operator Licence Compliance Refresher, will be supplied by us, as confirmation of the completion of your training and is usually required either:
- when applying for a new licence
- every 5 years
- when making major change requests to an existing licence
- when issues have been raised as a result of an audit
